It's Inktober so of course that means Aorta Rose needs to make an appearance! She's usually who I start off with since she's my simplest character, and looks great in a greyscale illustration, but Arrya's outfit had been sitting for a while. I'm REALLY trying to push my Inktober pieces this year, but we'll have to see what happens. There will definitely be days where I can't spend much time on these. But I'm glad I got to use the idea for what I had for Aorta. Wonder who's ghost crow that is...

New DnD character, ahoy! Or might like a refurbished NPC/OC now gets to run off her of her own adventure. Aorta Rose, aka Rose from my MLP DnD campaign that ended last year, gets a makeover as a super cursed high elf warlock for a game I’m playing in. She wouldn't be Rose if she wasn't in mounds of trouble, and so in this adventure, she's serving a beholder and is pretty much planning on serving the party up on a silver platter to it. YIKES!

It’s not easy putting up with a teenage monstrosity that wants to rip ponies’ souls out of their body for food. (Or at least that was the party’s best guess back then.)

Featuring @elosoquelee‘s cleric Dream Walker, and referencing this vine! I wish I had an excuse to bring Rose back, but my players might be venturing off to a new world entirely for the next campaign. That’s okay! It gives me time to plan her (hopeful) return. ;3

Happy Inktober 2017, y’all!! I decided to do Aorta Rose first since she was the first thing I drew back in 2015 when I screwed up the courage to do this challenge. Similar pose too! She’s also the most forgiving to draw since she’s an all black colored character!

Baby girl actually managed to get herself a semi happy ending last night as my players finished the main storyline quest for the campaign involving her! Rose officially has her heart back, but is, unfortunately, still hella cursed. Having memories of her emotions is better then nothing though!

“What are a bunch of rats doing running around my house...”

I had a really distressing dream this morning, so I woke up with a lot of restless and generally bad energy. What better way to burn it off then a messy Aorta painting?

I decided to try and put her in the environment my DnD players might know her best, which is the bottom basement of Starswirl manor in a huge library. (Just pretend I painted in the books.) Their first encounter with her was kind of similar to this, albeit it with more shouting, chasing, and potential TPK’ing Thunder Waves. Okay, it looked nothing like this, but I can pretend they went the stealthy exploration route for artistic visions’ sake.

Inktober #3!

Aorta Rose gets a Nightmare redux from last year! I’ve been meaning to give her nightmare form an overhaul, and this is probably the beginning of that. She may or may not be losing her wings since they cover up some really cool stuff on her. But at the same time... I dunno, vampires kind of need crazy bat wings, y’know? Inking Aorta is always really interesting since she’s a black pony with usually colored lines but I can’t really color lines without risking them getting all muddy from the black. Practice makes perfect though!

So, Paintberri is pretty fun! There’s a huge learning curve for me since I’ve never used an oekaki site in my entire life, but I’m slowly figuring it out. If anything it finally gives me the excuse I’ve always needed to tackle that neat binary style I see people use to make some really interesting looking stuff.
