A luminescent night heron, yokai from Japanese folklore. A mysterious phenomenon, when the herons' feathers fuse into shining scales that give off an iridescent blue light in the dark of night.

Sagi (herons) flying by a frozen willow under a snowy sky (antique obi seen on).
The blueish tones chosen to depict this wintery night scene remind me of the youkai phenomenon called Aosagibi - it is probably just a coincidence, as I don’t see why this would have been turned into an obi pattern, but it’s a pretty cool idea nonetheless ;)
My yokai OC Aosagi
He is inspired by a grey heron, I had a lot of fun with his colors !
