The room was dark, the night outside was even darker. The fire lights flickered on the wall, throwing hazes of orange and yellow into the corners and highlighting the age of the room.
It was quiet. Ridiculously so, honestly. There was only the crack of the flames and the shuffle of dust in the drafts blowing in through the cracks in the walls.
“It’s sad,” He whispered. “No one’s been here for years, but the house keeps standing like it’s waiting for its owner to return.”
He placed his hand on the worn, aged wall, glancing up at the shadowed ceiling and the back down at the sheet-covered furniture.
“You can almost feel all the sentiment this place holds.”
