The ground felt cold. You were cold, very cold, and you were starting to feel dizzy. You had only been there for two days, but everything was getting too heavy.
You could hear the moaning from the AV room, the room where the small group that was still alive was hiding.
Cheong-san had been sitting in the chair by the window all night. He hadn't slept all night and you could tell by the dark circles under his eyes.
You and Cheong-san had been friends since preschool. You both lived near each other and always went to class together along with your sister On-ju until she stopped to go to school with her group of friends.
You still remembered what it was like the morning before everything happened. Cheong-san was running after you while you were trying to escape from having to carry his backpack.
“You're such a cheater!” the boy shouted walking behind you as you laughed. “It's not fair!” he complained.
You kept running until you felt his arms wrap around your waist, stopping you and lifting you into the air.
“Stop!” you laughed as he forced you to carry his backpack. “What a gentleman...” you said sarcastically, walking beside him as he looked at you with a smirk.
After that morning, it was business as usual. You went to class together, sat next to each other, and then classes began.
One way or another, you had both ended up there, surrounded by zombies and fighting for your lives (actually hiding).
You were sitting on the floor, you had just woken up and some rays of light were coming through the window, although that was not the real reason why you had woken up. Your body was shivering, you were not used to the cold mornings in Korea, Cheong-san always ended up lending you his uniform jacket in the mornings.
You looked out the window, watching the sky, tinged with a certain shade of pink and orange, everything seemed calm for a second, it was even a pretty picture.
He came closer to you. He sat next to you and you rested your head on your shoulders. Cheong-san slipped his arm around your shoulders protectively.
“We'll get out of here alive.” He said. You felt the warmth of his body warm you and you snuggled even more with him.
“No one will come looking for us.” You said, slipping your arms around his torso and closing your eyes.
“I'll make sure you're alive until they come.” You frowned, pulling away from him to look into his eyes.
"That I'm alive? That we are alive." You said, he nodded.
“Sure, sure...” he said, settling your body next to his, pulling your legs over his and hugging you tightly as you rested your head on his chest.
“Cheong-San” you said, thinking about what you were going to say to him.
“Mh...?
“Don't even think about dying.” You said, hiding the nervousness in your voice.
“I wasn't planning on it.” He confessed, giving you a kiss on the top of your head.
You closed your eyes and fell back to sleep, feeling his breath against your hair and his hands caressing your back.
No matter how many promises Cheong-san had made, he knew that if he had to sacrifice his life for yours, he wouldn't think twice.
