The other residents I've spoken with received similar responses from the Apt Manager. (One was apparently threatened with eviction proceedings if they didn't stop complaining about the smell, but I'll take a grain of salt with that.)

Chu was right the mattress covers helped a lot!

The only problem is that if you leave any sort of jacket or sheet hanging off of the bed onto the floor the bedbugs will use that as a ladder to climb back into your bed. The same thing happens if your mattress is touching the wall. So I have ichily discovered because I am a complete slob.

The best thing to do is to 1. move your mattress away from the wall. 2. don't put anything on your bed that isn't for sleeping (ex. clothes, homework, toys, etc.). This will cut down on ladder creation. 3. CLEAN YOUR SHEETS REGULARLY. Seriously, like, once a week until you are no longer getting bites.

During washing cycles we have been sitting around watching Lost Girls. It is sort of like Supernatural but with more sisships and more succubi. Hoho there are indeed strange parallels between Dark Fae and Ron…if only we had a sexy succubus detective friend.

Chu's advice was spot on; the spray they used was less than effective however. When I took the sheets off of my mattress (Ron had told me to leave them on during the spraying process. It is like he is actively sabotaging our efforts to live bedbug free) I discovered a swarming mass of very alive bedbugs and eggs. Needless to say this went straight down the garbage chute accompanied by appropriate chanting in Latin (I only know the Aeneid, but I assume any Latin in better than no Latin for defeating the hell spawn that are bedbugs).

Hopefully with these measures we are on the up and up! I can't tell whether I am more excited to have these bugs gone or if I am excited to return our interactions with Ron to a minimum.

Hey this is Hoon here! I am here to tell you that the first step in anyone's bedbug adventure is denial.

It certainly was in mine. For weeks I thought "Oh I have been taking naps on lawns a lot, it could be outside bites" or "these are just hives from a new medication I've started, that must be it!." But slowly as others recognize the infestation I came around.

Admittedly I still had a faint hope that we were blowing this out of proportion until I was lying on my bed one day Tumblring. I saw a small movement out of the corner of my eye and THERE was the little bloodsucker himself (or herself. Probably herself). After screaming and crushing blood-guts out of its shiny body I lamented the unfairness of life. But folks, life is not fair.

Let me tell you that nobody comes into my home uninvited! (except for Ron because he is our apartment manager and I guess he can do that??). We have five months left in this apartment and like hell if I let our new squatters win.

My roommate (Hoon) and I decided to create this blog because we've been having so many bed bug problems in our apartment. We have no idea why it's so hard to get rid of them?? Also, it's the last quarter of our senior year of college. We want to be able to enjoy the perks of being graduating seniors without cowering in fear at night. Okay, cowering is an exaggeration because I never have any trouble falling asleep--but still. It's the principle of the matter.

With this blog, we will finally be able to document our trial by fire with these hellspawn, and hopefully provide tips and/or information that will help others who similarly struggle against bed bugs.

Probably the most frustrating part of this entire problem is the fact that our apartment manager (Ron) is so singularly unhelpful. When I first met him, I thought he was super nice and caring, but as the year has progressed (and the bed bug problem has grown worse), he's metamorphosed from Super!Apartment Manager to Slimy!Apartment Manager.

I've also begun to notice that he likes touching girls(?!) a lot, which is so...ew. I hate it when people get into my personal space, and I hate it even more when it's creepy apartment managers who do so. I always feel slightly nauseous after said apartment manager hugs me, but I don't know if it's nausea from 1) my inherent dislike of people in my personal space 2) the sliminess that he exudes.

Anyways, enough about that. Soon we will be documenting our last quarter in this apartment (with our third roommate, and with our other roommates...the bed bugs). :DD

Side note: taking five classes was a mistake! Such a mistake. Am already behind homework even though it's only been two weeks. D: Gahhhhh.
