I'm really glad that you're watching Sangatsu no Lion because the Best Boy has finally appeared and everything just gets better from here.
I thought Nikaido was the best boy?! He is not?! Don’t break my heart like that… Who is the best boy? Is it Shimada? Because I am liking him! I accept it if it’s Shimada.
this reminds me of the time another mutual was telling me they love how im constantly vaguing about two mutuals not tagging their yoi properly and how they thought it was the funniest thing
i hope it’s entertaining at least
for reference:
drama mutual type B if theres ever discourse on ur dash or drama of any sort, this might be the one behind it. they vague, they namedrop, they start drama and ur intimidated by them but u still stick around, probably because theyre also really cool. u just hope they wont vague u.
@apassingfandomenthusiast : While I don't agree with some of them, you have some very good points. I mostly stick around for a few characters I like nowadays.
I still stick around because…
…
I have no idea…
Though, I feel the need to add this (now that I’ve calmed down)
:RE is not a bad story
It just didn’t reach my expectations
And I got really frustrated with it because of that
I need to learn how to chill regarding this -.-‘
Also, either you like main characters or the ones you like only have airtime once every 3 months… keep strong!
I have a question: Why have you not been liking :Re?
Oh my god,are you really asking me this?
Are youreally allowing me to speak about this?
Are you sure you want me to explain?!
Cuz, bro… I’mgoing at it hard… (just jump to the last bit, if you don’t want to read the whole thing)
Well, let’sgo by phases!
1 – Terriblepacing and plot
Despite howmuch the fandom loves that Ishida is making parallels and whatnot, the storysuffers a lot from not having astable pacing: the creation of filler, incrediblyforced developments and no understandable plot or objective. I mean, only after 100 chapters that we have theclosest thing to a goal in this sh*t.
While theoriginal series also did not have a plot per se, its driving force was Kanekilearning how to live with his new ghoul identity, aka wanting to find his placein both worlds, which then developed into wanting to learn about what really happenedto him. You always had a clear idea of what our main character wanted to do.
Bycomparison, Haise was the most terrible piece of sh*t I’ve ever seen in mylife. He was a half measure. That is not to say that Kaneki didn’t also havetrouble deciding, but Haise was the most disgusting thing as a main character I’ve ever seen. It might sound strange, but Ididn’t mind that Haise was always blinding and convincing himself that he washappy and that it was what he wanted to do, but for f*ck’s sake make another character the main character! He hasno motivation! He has no will! Iliked Urie as a main character far more and he was an asshole in the beginning and I HATED THE CCG, BUT GOD DIDURIE ACTUALLY TRY TO DO THINGS!
Which leadsto…
2 – No senseof victory
As it isexpected in a “tragedy” (if you can even call this show that), no one wins. They might survive, but there’s no happiness in it. Everything feels hollow. Andthat’s ok. There are a lot of people who like that and while I personally don’t(I’m more a fan of Hunter X Hunter’s types of victories – they might win, butthey always have to sacrifice something and that might lead to it not feelinglike a true victory), when comparing with the prequel, aka Hinami’s &Nishiki’s saga, there were always small victories that both showed that theworld they lived in was not an easy one, but not completely hopeless anddespairing. However, there is no hope in the massacres that CCG organizes andbetween reading something that feels pointless and another that accepts thatcruelty will always exist and tries to overcome that, even stupidly, I wouldchoose the later.
3 –Characters that seem frozen in time
Everyone seemedto have waited for Kaneki to “wake up”. No one tried to do anything. It’s like “No!Kaneki is the main character! We can’tmove the plot without him!”
There was nochange in the characters! No previous known character died, no previous knowncharacter suffered a lot of changes during the time skip… and yes, I’m ignoringHinami because she’s terribly written andKimi is only coming into play now after 100 chapters.
In Tsukiyama’scase, it’s normal for this to happen, but I also find it very difficult to believehe has a father and employees that love him to death and they still waited 2years to solve his problem. I mean, they had Kanou making one-eyed ghouls inAogiri. Eto is “smart enough” to approach the incredibly rich familyand ask for support in exchange of giving them some “floppies” in hopes theywould help Tsukiyama. Just like this, you had characters moving forward withoutKaneki, because he’s not that essential!
4 – Charactershilling
Oh no, Etois so horrible (yeah, she indirectly caused the death of some named characters, but is always seen killing people as bad orworse than her). Oh no, Eto is so strong (every time she fights onscreen, she has her ass kicked and seems to havebeen killed by Mister New Final Boss somehow).Oh no, Eto is so smart (How? When was she smart? When she revealed to the worldshe was a ghoul? I’m more surprisedthere haven’t been other ghouls doing the same!).
Kaneki is actuallyreally smart (HAHAHAHAHAHA THE BOY IS ALWAYSBEING MANIPULATED). Arima was kind to Kaneki and they had a fatherlyrelationship (yeah, my father also stabs me in the eye when I get out ofcontrol and tries to use me as his suicide mechanism). And don’t get me startedon Aogiri!
I could goon, but I won’t (unless you ask me to). I’m already at two pages and while Icould still tackle the: increase of shock value, trading psychological densityand classing moralities for Shonen fights and power levels, sudden shoujomoments that come out of nowhere!,, plot holes and misused settings, etc. but I’mgoing to resume to:
Because Ifeel like I’m reading a fanfic from someone with a good idea, but who hasn’tgot their thoughts straight out and then resorts to using more cheap and commercialhorror tropes to keep it alive.
Because whenI read :RE, I don’t feel like I’m reading Tokyo Ghoul.

I've found that to be quite common in battle shounen slash fandoms in general. Like a guy being effeminate is fine, but they obviously have ulterior motives.
yeah it’s definitely a thing and i haven’t really put much thought into it beyond just going “.....yikes.” every time i see it
probably related to how certain portions of slash fandom insists on putting their ships in forced “hetero” frameworks but yeahhh
Hi! I reprinted some WT fanarts on here with permission and the artist retracted their permission, could you please delete your reblog as you are a WT blog and can easily spread it to others?
