I was reading up on american pit bull terrier breed history and one website (realpitbull.com) mentioned that there're a number of fanciers that dispute that the old english bulldog was ever crossed with terriers. I already knew who Richard Stratton was, but little did I know that the article was talking about him and some of his fans after reading one of his online articles. I would be curious to know if there are others on here who agree with him more over the popular/widespread history.

Out of curiosity: Are any reputable APBT breeders trying to breed away from the DA traits, while keeping dogs healthy and balanced? I always like to look at what breeders are doing as far as ‘improving’ goes. Like, now would be the time to carefully breed away from DA without losing the incredible traits these dogs posses, if able. Especially since fighting the dogs is illegal, and not looked upon well by...like...most people. Anyone know?
