Are people with Auditory Processing Disorder welcome in the D/deaf community? I was recently diagnosed, and I'm having a hard time finding resources but since my hearing is technically fine I don't know if I'd fit in. I'm hoping to learn ASL soon.
Hi, you’re the second person to ask that question, which tells me you have company out there somewhere. First, about the issue of how much of a “welcome” people with APD can expect to find in the Deaf/deaf community, my answer to that was here:

In regard to resources … I’m not sure if you mean specifically for people with APD or if you mean ASL resources? If you mean ASL resources, I am not personally familiar with these, but some collections of links I’ve seen going around:

And this one has all kinds of resources related to learning about Deaf culture, ASL learning resources, etc.:

Or if you mean things like telecommunications resources, this could be a starting point:

Or google terms like “captioned phones” and so on for other options that might work for you. Captioned phones could be helpful for someone who is not (yet) fluent in sign language and who speaks clearly but need help with hearing or understanding the other person on the phone.
When I’ve tried googling in the past for support groups for people with auditory processing disorder, I haven’t found much for adults, mostly just resources for parents of children with APD. But maybe organizations like Self Help for the Hard of Hearing could help with identifying technologies that may be helpful for you?

I wish, though, that I could introduce the anonymous people with APD to each other. Is there a way I could help a few people with APD connect with each other?
