not all of them are the republic, but that's not so important. they arose in the course of my research into italian history (and in particular the regional characteristics of italian costume during the renaissance meh) and reasoning about how such a character as northern italy could exist at all. so there. nothing concrete and not all italian states are here (and only girls because i love girls), but we have what we have

Feliciano- a lot of artists come from your city, which you are the most proud of?

Feliciano: “Oh! What are you asking of me! That is like asking a mother to choose between her children! But I can be persuaded to tell you about someone i liked a lot.So, I think Michelangelo Buonarroti was one of my most famous and most talented artists but… He wasn’t really nice to be around so he isn’t my favorite.”

“This is a story about someone I really liked, Maestro Sandro Botticelli! He was really nice and often asked me to sit for him to be painted as an angel. Perhaps when my body grows, I’ll be able to model for Hercules or someone strong someday…”

  “Sandro liked joking with me and his students. One time we pulled a prank on this boy named Biagio.Biagio had made a round painting of a madonna with angels like the one Sandro is painting of me above. Finally the maestro managed to sell it and told Biagio to go get the customer. While Biagio was away we all folded paper hats  and coloured them red, which we then stuck onto the painting, if you put it up high it looked like all the angels were really wearing hats in the painting. So the customer, a member of the Florentine Signoria was in on the joke, so Biagio comes back with the customer and sees his madona not surounded by angels but by people wearing red hats like they’re the Florentine signoria! He was about to apologize, but the customer praised the painting a lot so Biagio just decided to not say anything. The customer said he’d take it and Biagio had to come to his house for payment, six florins. So when he was gone we quickly removed all the paper hats from the angels. So Biagio comes back, with his money and is so confused and asks: “Am I going crazy… Or were those angels wearing hats just a while ago.” so we all tease him that the money had made his head spin, and that the idea of selling to someone of the Signoria had made him imagine them all have the hats of the signoria, and that the customer would’ve complained if there had in fact been hats. He believed us for the longest time! His face was priceless.”

“Another part I really like is that if i’ve done a good job modeling Sandro takes me out to eat fritella mele- ah fried apples in cheese dough! They’re delicious.”

The Botticelli story comes from Giorgio Vasaris life of the artists, The apple fritella can be found in:Platina, De Honesta Voluptate, Venice, L. De Aguila, 1475. A great source for real renaissance treats!

Morsels of apple that have been cleaned and cored, you fry in liquamen or a little oil, and spread them on a board so that they dry. Then roll them in a preparation such as we described earlier and fry again. Preparation described earlier: to grated cheese, aged as well as fresh, add a little meal, some egg whites, some milk, a bit more sugar, and grind all this together in the same mortar.

So.. it's been a while since I've posted here 😓.. Nothing has really changed about Florence or Gunma apart from Florence having his fringe flipped to the other side (he looks too similar to Romano) (⁠´⁠;⁠︵⁠;⁠`⁠).. and maybe the belt in front ? Itsbeen a while since I have posted so I'm not too sure...

I'll try to post more here but I'm unsure what to post? you can ask anything about Florence OR Gunma! anything is welcome (apart from nsfw,,)

Welcome to my ask blog!

This ask blog is dedicated to mine and my girlfriends hetalia ocs, Florence and Gunma! This post will act as an introductory post and contain everything to know about Florence and Gunma. Enjoy!

Florence (Lorenzo Vargas)

(the chibi has the correct skin tone, I'm too lazy to edit the full body)

- He is the personification of Florence, Italy & (in a way) the entirety of Tuscany. He is mostly based on the Republic of Florence, which then became the Duchy of Florence and then Duchy of Tuscany until the italian unification.

- His human name is Lorenzo Ciel Vargas.

- He is the younger brother of North Italy and South Italy, being born in 1115. He presents as a 18-19 year old boy with features similar to his grandpa Rome. This is further emphasised by the fact he has 2 curls, rather than one, similar to his grandpa.

- He has 2 cousins, one being Seborga and the other being Liguria, Seborgas older sibling. He's pretty close with them, as they're neighbouring regions.

- As Florence, Italy is the birth place of the renaissance, Florence himself is an artist who delves into many different forms of art, mostly painting and sculpting. He still loves every form of art, afterall he is a patron of the arts!

- Gunma is Florence's best friend. They only met during ww2 but they've been there for eachother for decades now. Some people confuse them as a couple, but nothings official. He often travels over to her house for prolonged periods of time as Gunmas rather asocial. He enjoys her company a lot, often writing her letters whenever he's away.

Gunma (Ayame Honda)

- She is the personification of the Japanese prefecture, Gunma, which is in central Japan.

- Her human name is Ayame Honda (本田菖蒲)

- She is Japan's little sister, often staying by his side for majority of her life. She presents as a 17-18 year old girl and has no other blood relatives apart from Japan, however she considers England and Japan to be like fathers to her.

- She considers North Italy and Germany as her uncles, since often times she spends time at their houses whenever Japan is busy with errands.

- She dresses in lolita fashion and has a lot of vkei influences in her design. This is inspired by the fact that the vkei band Buck-Tick originate from Gunma, Japan.

- Her best friend is Florence. Whenever she is out the house, she's often seen with Florence. Even though sometimes she looks uncomfortable or uneasy around Florence, she enjoys his company a lot (She just gets overwhelmed easily). She keeps all the letters he sends him in a cabinet, going through them occasionally.
