was doing a bit of research on crete when I got hit with genoa and venice, was not expecting them to show up
What was that five italian republics oc? It seems interesting, can you elaborate, please?
well, if you ask. prepare the torches and sharpen the pitchforks
not all of them are the republic, but that's not so important. they arose in the course of my research into italian history (and in particular the regional characteristics of italian costume during the renaissance meh) and reasoning about how such a character as northern italy could exist at all. so there. nothing concrete and not all italian states are here (and only girls because i love girls), but we have what we have
bonus both italians, as they look in my mind
so.. yes 😋
I know that North Italy is Venice, but I’m curious, if Republic of Venice was a separate character (Like Genoa) what would they look like?
Personally, I dont see North Italy as Venice, because for as much as the historical reputation of Venice aligns with how I see him, and canonical basis for italy = venice, i would just have to to twist too much history to justify why Venice ended up representing Northern Italy, rather than like, say Piedmont or Sardinia who led the Risorgimiento ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
POV: the pope forgot to budget for travel on yalls road trip to take back the Holy Land but this lady's offering a deal on boats you simply cant turn down
Venice, tending to Milan's wounds: How would you rate your pain?
Milan: Zero stars. Would NOT recommend.
Pax tibi Marce, evangelista meus.
So... what is it like being a teenager in the renaissance?
Well, boys will be boys. Venice is smart enough to hide his erotic prints in his math book, he’s also nice enough to share with Naples.
These types of erotic prints were produced in renaissance Venice. They worked like little flap books! The books are attributed to Donato Bertelli, a printmaker and bookseller. The lady in this picture wears the ornate clothes that designate her as a courtesan that could be found plenty in the Venetian harbour.
