Original Description:

This page was sort of written at the last minute to tie the chapter together more. This started out as a study comic and I am learning more and more about themes and better ways of storytelling all the time, so I would really like to go back someday and implement more. When I wrote this page I didn't actually fully understand the Tragic Trilogy of Greek drama/myth: hubris (arrogance), ate (reckless action) and nemesis (divine retribution) but now that I have a better understanding of it and how Greek writers used it in their representations of their own history, you'll be seeing parallels to it and it will become an ongoing theme (watch Athens). As we know, cultural stability is relative. Greece thinks of Egypt as stable, but Egypt has had her own internal strife. It's part of a natural cycle for nations, and maybe if Greece realizes that it will be easier. Of course, without a central government Greece will always have trouble holding herself together. Being free, as much as she prized it, may not have been the best thing. obvious tantalus analogy is obvious hopefully

Memphis: Men Nefer in Egyptian, often capital or at least hip and happening city of Ancient Egypt. A center of industry and culture, and at this point in time under Persian control. As a person, he tends to be pretty relaxed and stable- his hair is a wig. Not the place to wear blue suede shoes but perhaps aptly the land of the delta blues?

The Egyptian Expedition: A collaboration between rebels in Libya and Egypt with Athens- obviously, it did not end well for them. (Interestingly enough it was led by King Inarus, which is the name I always use when I play any of the Sierra city builders with my co-pharaoh.) Still, keeping Egypt in turmoil keeps Persia’s focus off of Greece, so the expedition served its purpose there.

SO GLAD i realized at this point that copy/paste isn’t cheating and it is unnecessary to draw unique and interesting background characters no matter how fond of them I am.

Sorry this is late! I have no excuse for not posting it yesterday. X_x I just forgot. things that are important I learned 1. it's good to have something lighter after a scary page2. there is no shame in copy/paste Memphis is less than thrilled as usual I should also mention that keeping Egypt in turmoil is really important for Athens. Historians sometimes look at Athenian expeditions to Egypt as a huge waste of resources and time, but actually it's very important. Aside from getting food from Egypt, keeping Egypt in turmoil keeps Persia's attention on Egypt and not on Greece. That's partly why Persia doesn't really care about Greece anymore- he's so busy with Egypt he simply can't be bothered.
