I, personally, quite like my PruCan with a substantial age difference. There is so much you can do with this.

Gilbert, a man in his early fourties with a job he hates and crippling debt to a loan shark, feeling guilty because he has essentially taken a twenty-something-year-old’s future away from him by getting him involved with it.

Or, Gilbert has to explain to his best friend how he ended up dating his best friend’s little brother figure.

Or, when Gilbert is old and is but a shell of what he used to be, Mattie will always be there to comfort him, to kiss away his scars and insecurities.

Or, when someone has died (because someone had to have gone first, and someone had to have been left alone, because that’s how life works; rather, that’s how death does), Gilbert had not expected it to be him, not Matthew, his sweet, sweet Matthew.

He lives to be older than every one of his friends, his family, and wonders what he could have done to deserve this.
