4. vanilla
3. have i mentioned vanilla?
2. petrichor (i rly like the smell, not just bc the word was pretty)
1. slightly old books (brown paper keeps me alive)
ask me my top 5s of this year!
leather jacket. worn combat boots. empty car park. a lone cigarette dangles from your finger tips as you observe the stars your mind a whirlwind of intricate thoughts too complex for most to comprehend such a pity though for that mind could bring a man to his knees or destroy the world
aphleia
8 13 16 for the book asks! (:
8.why are you reading the book you’re currently reading?
i am on a reading hiatus actually because i have exams/assessments coming up. but the last book i read was Wrack by James Bradley and i read it because i had to for english
13.what character would be your best friend for life
uhhh… i would love for it to be boris (from the goldfinch by donna tartt) because of his unique perspectives and just how he handles the shit fest that is his life. but tbh i feel like it would be noah (trc by stiefvater)
16.rant about anything book related
now, one of the most contentious character that i have ever come across is james faulkner (from descent series by sm reine. her writing is amazing. highly recommend). this bitch, you think yeah he’s an alright dude and such there’s nothing dickish about him. but then as you progress you realise how ignorant he is of the main character and the her feelings as well as the inner demons she has to battle constantly. and he does THE MOST RUDE ASS BITCH THING THAT SOMEONE CAN DO THAT ESSENTIALLY PLACES THE PERSONA BACK INTO THE SHIT HOLE SHE ESCAPED FROM. LIKE WHYY WOULD YOU DO THAT TO THE PERSON WHO IS YOUR BEST FRIEND AND YOUR LOVE WHYYYYYYY DUMBASS. but then in the following series you start to like him but hate him and like him and its a fucking emotional rollercoaster that leaves you wanting to strangle a croc
have you read the sound and the fury by william faulkner? if so, what are your thoughts on it
I tried to read The Sound and the Fury years ago and found it extremely difficult… and not very pleasant. I feature Faulkner here because of his status in classic literature, but I’m not a big fan. “A Rose for Emily” is the only thing I’ve liked by him. I’d love for people to reply with dissenting opinions, though.
