Her smile was such a rare sight to see. It was fleeting but memorable no matter what I do, it will never leave this weary mind of mine for the next millennium. Like how she managed to etch her timelessness to me. A fantasy that can never end and will continue till eternity.
She has invaded my mind both at night and day. In my dreams and my daydreams, she does not stop. And I won't force her to stop.
Everything you want. Everything you ask for. I will give it all to you with no hesitation. I would give up anything just to see you smile. Every... Single... Day...
I know there were multiple periods in our history where we were on the opposing sides. And I was to fight against you for the benefit of my damned allies.
But please, please, please know - that if I was given a chance to choose. I will choose to be by your side no matter what.

What if I was not colonized by Spain and was not forced to cut ties with any of you?
What if I tried hard enough and united all my kingdoms into one and strong enough to repel any colonizers?

What a pleasant reality might it be.
But an actuality that is too far to reach. Like how the moon will try to attain the sun. It runs after it for days, months, years, decades, centuries, and millenniums, a never-ending cycle.
But unfortunately, like me. The moon will only align with the sun as it will still not be good enough to reach her.
So I run back into my dreams. Where all my what if's have come true.
Where we are happy together. Where you accept me even though I'm not perfect. In a dream where all the stars are in our favor. And hope that I won't wake up from it.
I will do everything that makes you happy.
If you want to fly, I will give you wings.
And nothing will stop us because we are the law.
But despite what I do, I wake up.
Brought back into a reality where I can not have you. I can still hold you, laugh with you, even make you worry with my antics. But it was still not like how it was before.
