Hi! I saw your post about recently becoming wiccan and I was curious as to whether you would be willing to share more with me. I have recently become interested in wicca and am hungry for all the information i can get from others.
Well I still have so much left to learn about Wicca so I'm not sure if my information will need correcting but I will share with you the best I can! Wicca is first and foremost about love and respect for all people, animals, objects and beliefs. Wiccan's are a type of witch although many witches do not identify as Wiccan. Our faith is based upon the belief that the universe is a manifestation of the Goddess who is a part of all things, living or not. She is the creator of all energies, including her counterpart and soul-mate, the God. Many religions of today exclude the Goddess in their teachings and focus only on the God, but she is an equal part of him. He is the father and the son, and she is the holy spirit. Wiccan's live their lives knowing that the energy of the God and Goddess flow through them always, they meditate to become more aware of their physical and spiritual selves. They do rituals and prayer to help with their tasks and everyday lives, and to communicate with the gods. They do not preach to others to teach about their religion, they show them the way by their actions. And in death they believe that the spirit does not truly leave, that it can be called back to communicate with the living. The spirit goes to the Summerland (heaven) for any period of time, until it is ready to embark on another journey on earth and is reincarnated. This is probably the most basic and butchered summary of the Wiccan faith ever but I didn't want to overwhelm you with information. If you have any more questions please don't hesitate to ask! I have gotten most of my information from books that I borrowed from a friend or have bought at Chapters (I think it's the equivilant to Barns&Noble in America) and the best one's I have found for beginning are Wicca for Beginners by Thea Sabin, and then if you decide you would like more, Solitary Witch by Silver Ravenwolf is probably the best read for a new Wiccan and I would reccomend it to anybody. Good luck and take care!
