historical AU or apocalypse fic for zayn/niall/liam or whatever tbh i just want to hear your thoughts :)
oh wow threesome feels!! i have been trying to think of a historical au for zayn and niall but i can't figure out who i think they'd be, so. apocalypse it is.
it'd be called "in california" after the neko case cover song.
it'd be liam pov, set in a world where the apocalypse came when the govt collapsed and all systems have broken down and most utilities don't work anymore—power, running water, etc. are all gone. liam would be trekking alone through the cali desert, the crew he used to run with are dead. he came back to their camp in—idk, st. louis—and they'd all been slaughtered, so he set out on his own. they used to dream of getting to l.a. b/c they heard things were better there, all that money meant ppl had set up shelters and support systems, and it's his only goal or mission now without his friends. (oh man, one of whom was andy, like he should definitely be ~not alive~ in my apoca world.) and liam's not ruthless but he's strong and he knows how to stay low, so he makes it all the way to cali alive, but it's nothing like they said. it's just as fucked as everywhere else.
meanwhile, zayn and niall are there doing... something. (is this a dark angel fusion? are they bike messengers?? idk.) and they find liam sleeping on the streets and they take him in and nurse him back to health. like super hurt/comfort shit. and he'd be suffering from some serious ptsd from all the shit he'd been through, and they'd help him recover or at least start that process.
and he'd get better slowly, but then get kind of sad again because he sees them in this functional relationship even though the world has ended. like there'd be lots of scenes of like... zayn and niall eating brunch in their 'backyard' which would be raggedy but they'd be growing cactuses and some mediterranean herbs, and they'd eat at a table made from one of those industrial cable spools, just trying to inject some beauty into their weird post-apoca lives. and liam would be sad because he's kind of in love with both of them? but he doesn't know how to say that and he doesn't want to ruin this thing they have.
so liam tries to move on, like thanks for nursing me back to health but i shouldn't bother you anymore, but zayn and niall wouldn't let him leave, because he's part of the family now. they have to stick together. and they'd have some horrible fight because liam hates himself for loving them both, and they hate that liam is so down on himself, because they love him too. and then idk how it works without being weird but they all basically negotiate a happy little poly family together.
and at first there are lots of awkward accidental hard-on scenes and accidentally watched-you-have-sex scenes but by the end there are lots of blowjobs in the dusty backyard and threeway sex in the makeshift shower, the end.
