Modern au where Pyro is a serial killer who wants Apo to be his final girl but little does he know she can and will fuck him up BADLY since she has military training and he definitely Does Not.

Spoiler alert this is an even better outcome to him because now Apo is even better and more interesting

Avid knew fear.

He knew it like he knew the brackish red stain of his own blood and the exhaustion tugging at his bones and the ugly salmon scars littered in places he could pretend vampirism had fixed.

That old introduction had been the first of them, and fear had kept his throat in its jaws ever since.

Owen dies screaming.

It's fitting that he should, that his end comes loud and violent, that his voice shatters the damp dawn air.

It is the soldier who finally brings him down, a blur of fangs and claws and messy, inevitable violence.

The death of a monster, it seems, is no pretty affair.

Owen hopes the budding orange morning frames the last snarl on his mouth. A picture that will burn itself into the soldier's brain, like how the scent of smoke never quite left his nose.

When the two of them tumble back into town, clawed hands clasped too tightly, ears ringing like they're underwater, Martyn's eyes go very, very wide.

"What-" He starts, something like fear glittering in his gaze, "the fuck?"

"It's not what it looks like!" Pyro sputters, manic joy falling from his features, and for a second Apo feels like someone's knocked her over.

She expected the…maliciousness, bravado, rampant assholery, whatever you wanted to call it, to steal the words from Pyro's mouth.

"It's exactly what it looks like." She says, strangely breathless

Pyro sounds a little like he used to.
