(incoming rant, this has been a long time coming for my time on tumblr)
Ok so new rule of thumb for interactions as a whole.
If your partner goes out of their way to contact you after you replied to a starter call, include you in a thread when you’ve shown interest and makes an actual effort to create a multi paragraph piece they’re proud of;
Don’t reply with only 3 lines which are lazily written at best.
Crack threads are one thing and usually are that short which is perfectly acceptable, but this is just a whole new level of insulting. Don’t waste people’s time if you aren’t going to invest at least a fraction of effort into an actual reply. People take time out of their busy day to sit and write something for you to enjoy, don’t take that for fucking granted.
We don’t expect a novel, but read the damn situation and assess what length would be appropriate for your response. Serious scenes or emotionally heavy moments need depth and description. First meetings should show your character’s thoughts and reactions to a stranger. NSFW stuff in general is pretty detailed especially for the TF fandom as a whole.
It’s the main reason why I adamantly refuse to interact with people who can’t or won’t write more than a paragraph in roleplays. It takes you out of the moment, you can’t enjoy a story when there isn’t any.
Some people don’t have the time to write long things, sure that’s fine- some people also aren’t that skilled at writing due to maybe disabilities or other issues/ailments. There are many reasons why people could be like this, but if you interact with someone (who specifically states they want longer replies) expecting detailed plot and attentive interest when you only write 3 lines in return with no reasons provided, you are going to be very disappointed and upset when they turn down your interest.
In short, talk to your partners. In DMs, in tags, it doesn’t matter as long as both parties understand what they are dealing with. Read their god damn rules and study their RP style it isn’t hard to do a quick glance over their blog! Nothing is worse than putting in effort to things and receiving nothing back.
