He is covered in a cloak and wrapped in gauze, tighter than a courier’s package. The tinkle the bell settled on the door announces his arrival, and brings upon him a grimace, the type that widens his perpetual mocking smile into a wince. Ah, but said look of always being privy to a private joke had brought him always much fortune, be it good or ill. A sly look, quick wit; it is said not to judge a book by its cover, but it is more often the fact that it tends to make a sale. In this case, a belief easily bought: a word in a tavern, here or there, accompanied by a bought mug of ale for some man that had already had too many. I have something, you see, I have no intention of keeping and would bring me great trouble if I did; then a crooked fool seeing an equal, directing him to this particular doorstep.
The shelves and displays boast of all manner of little and grand things, all acceptable, a shining or gleaming treasure here-and-there, but in general quite nondescript. “Quite boring.” Leonidas murmurs, though such dullness is immediately interrupted by a presence recently arrived—or recently noticed—that makes him jump. When he settles back on his feet, his expressions schools back into his usual nonchalance, with a small notch of a shared jest with the woman at the counter. “Nevermind me, I am just looking.” The half of his face, bruised, quirks into a smile. “Though there is not much to look at. Tell me, is all this your store has, or is there anything more interesting hidden in the back?”
