TLT | 3.20.13

On March 20, 2013, a group of brothers went to TLT Food, a restaurant which started as a food truck. A group of people walked to TLT, and some people drove. TLT was really crowded but they got lucky and a large group that was occupying a nice long table fit for 15 decided to leave! The pledges occupied the table and waited for the actives to order food. The food sounded realllly good but was a little expensive. Like, an order or carnitas fries was was $9, but regardless, everyone ordered their food and it was reallllly really good! Tim took a bit of Gabby's left over blue crab grilled cheese sandwich and he looked like he had a taste of the heavens in his mouth--it was crazy. They also tried some Ghost chilli pepper sauce that singed your mouth. Everyone had a good time talking to each other about random things, and finals too, of course. Overall, the event went well and people definitely enjoyed the food at TLT)!

Drake Stadium Running | 3.15.13

Chair: San Li, Alpha Iota (pledge)

On a cold and foggy Friday night of 10th week, some actives and pledges of Alpha Phi Omega Chi chapter set out to the Drake Stadium of UCLA to do some physical activity. We met up at the top of Drake Stadium and at about 8 pm, everyone was set to go so we headed down to the track and took a picture and began stretching. After stretching, everyone began their workouts, some running by themselves and some working out in groups. After about an hour or so, everyone was done doing their workouts and we decided to call it a day since it is finals season after all. Overall, it was a good way to de-stress and not think about our upcoming finals. Everyone seemed to have a good time.

Easter Egg Painting | 3.14.13

Chair: Maria Valenzuela, Alpha Theta

Before the event, Maria boiled the eggs because the directions called for cooled hard boiled eggs. By the time she finished it was 6:55pm and Tin walked in with Miye and Maiko. Alejandra and Priya soon joined them and they all chatted away while waiting for the remaining people to arrive. They started dyeing the eggs, and Ivy and JJ joined them soon after. They tried different strategies to get the eggs darker each time. Everyone started getting really creative with their eggs and Alejandra brought out more art supplies. Miye was really into her egg decorating and she even started tattooing them with a string dipped in water. Ivy made a basket weave out of left over yarn that Maria had thrown around in her apartment. It was the cutest thing she had ever seen. Ivy quickly learned how to make it on YouTube and everyone admired it. Near the end of it Maria made some popcorn and played some music to keep everyone entertained. At 9:00pm we wrapped things up and everyone took home the eggs they made so they could eat them. Since it was pretty late and everyone had to go back to the hill to study, we called the evening van and they walked over to Rochester to wait.

Natural History Museum | 3.10.13

Chair: JJ Chiang, Alpha Theta

On March 10, 2013, a few brother from Chi embarked on a trip to the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County. After taking the bus and Metro Rail (which they were apparently very excited to take), they arrived at the museum. As expected, they saw a multitude of fossils at the museum. They saw and learned about so many different kinds of dinosaurs and quite a few prehistoric mammals. They even watched a pretty entertaining live show in which they got to "encounter" dinosaurs! After a couple of hours at the museum, they decided it was time to go, even though we had only explored about 1/3 of what they had to offer. After they were done at the museum, they were all so hungry that they decided to go eat at Ami Japanese Restaurant, which was one of the best decisions! All in all, it was a very enjoyable experience!
