I’m constantly conscious of how easy it is to get caught up in a work routine and close yourself off from the wider world. Yes tea is tasty, but it also is a way to reconnect with those around you. • Here I’m enjoying a zesty and energising lemon and ginger rooibos from @chashtea at @appestat_n1 with a good old friend ☺️ . . . . . #tea #rabbit #tearabbit #illustration #chashtea #rooibos #lemon #ginger #herbaltea #redbush #appestat (at Appestat) https://www.instagram.com/p/Bn8II21lIsw/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1n45rvkfzpli7
Tucked away on the cozy lane of Camden Passage, Appestat is probably the most friendly coffee shop we’ve ever come across. With monthly lock-ins and friendly conversation to every customer that walks in, you’ll be sure to feel at home here. Read on to find out more.
Opened by Anneka and Sarley just 10 months ago, Appestat is a fresh face to Angel but have already surrounded themselves with great community of similar people. “We’re all about relationships with people. We want to know the names and faces of everyone that walks through the door. We’re about so much more than just great coffee” - Anneka

What impressed us the most are the monthly lock-ins with their regular customers. With over £200 worth of booze spread out over the tables, it’s a great opportunity for people in the local area and beyond to get to know each other and socialise in an intimate environment outside the world of coffee and work. “We also invite people to exhibit their art on the walls and we play live music as Sarley and I are both from musical backgrounds” - Anneka
In terms of making coffee, Aneeka and Sarley are the perfect team. “I have a great pallet for coffee. I can tell when the grind is off but I’m not so good with the milk so I leave that to Sarley. Before we opened Appestat, he won a Timeout award for the best deli in Chiswick so he’s quite the latte expert” - Anneka
After tasting the coffee, chatting to the team and talking to the customers we really got a feel for Appestat. It’s clear they really share the belief that building a community in the metropolis of London is far from impossible, especially when food and drink are involved.
Thank you for taking the time to talk to us appestat!
This false-coloured scanning electron micrograph (SEM) shows caffeine crystals. Caffeine is a bitter, crystalline xanthine alkaloid that acts as a stimulant drug ... as any self respecting coffee addict knows. In plants, caffeine functions as a defence mechanism. Found in varying quantities in the seeds, leaves and fruit of some plants, caffeine acts as a natural pesticide that paralyses and kills certain insects feeding on the plant. Coffee helps but try this Seggiano Sicilian Cherry Tomato Salsa we have instore. Made uniquely from ciligreno cherry tomatoes grown on the Ragusa coastal parts of Sicily this sauce is off the scale intense. It is grown by smallholders, the Arestia family, who have farmed tomatoes for two generations. This sweet, instant tomato elixir makes a perfect Bloody Mary or base for any decent pasta sauce. There is a big "PS" in this as the second photo was sent to us by someone who used this magical stuff to make Morrocan spiced tomato sauce to go with saffron and rosemary chicken.
