regarding the Apple store and transferring stuff: when I worked there it was a function of a One To One membership and that cost $99. but it's super easy to transfer Mac to Mac so you don't need them. you can use a Time Machine backup or you can use the built in Migration Assistant during the new Mac's setup process as long as the 2 Macs are connected via an Ethernet cable OR connected to the same wi-fi network.
My dash is so full of wonderful information this is amazing and excellent news yes.
My local store is an authorized mac repair/sales shop that has been around so long they helped me get my first Performa, so I don't know that they would require a membership to help. That said, I am relieved to know that I could do it myself if I manage to click "buy" on my apple store cart. :)
