The apples aren’t quite the size where I put their maggot socks on them but I can’t decide if it would be better to do it early, or wait until I’m home in two weeks. I don’t want my dad to do this chore, if someone is going to accidentally yank fruit off the tree, I’d rather it be me.
Some sort of last minute decision will be made, or not.
One of the two apples on my columnar apple tree dropped off this week, right at the peak of the heat wave. ...le sigh... Helping fruit trees deal with heat stress is not easy. And it has apple maggots by the looks of it. Not a good apple year this year.
Organic pest control. Worked last year: all bagged apples were free of apple maggots . This year, the princess dwarf apple tree and the Asian pears are the test groups.
