PlugBug: Every Mac lover needs one
A portion of the weight and space in my gadget backpack goes to chargers and cables.
I'm obsessive about charging my gadgets, and when traveling, I even add an extension cord (one long in case the outlet isn’t near me, and another with multiple outlets so I'm able to charge simultaneously) and travel adaptor.
While I can just bring one charger for my MacBook and use the laptop’s USB ports to charge my iPhones, the iPad is a problem. Because it requires more juice to charge it, I have to bring its 10W charging block. Sure, it’s one small block, but when you're in a hurry and you forget it, you're screwed.
When I saw the PlugBug being reviewed praised by Guy Kawasaki I knew I had to have one. I held off buying it (one of my attempts at self-restraint), until, one night at work, my iPad had only 3% juice left, I was still halfway through the magazine I was reading, and my iPad charger was at work, mocking me for leaving it behind.
I was going to order it through Amazon but they had run out by the time I decided to get it (panic!!!), good thing manufacturer TwelveSouth (also the makers of BookBook for iPhone and iPad) still had it, so I ordered right away.
It was going to get to me through Pammy & Jill’s amazingly crafty friend Petah (aka Pam’s polish elf and someone who can give Martha Stewart a run for her money), who gave it to cute couple Ver & Joel who were gonna spend the holidays here.
The PlugBug was going to arrive with his nail polish friends (Pam’s), a couple of dresses I had gotten on sale from ModCloth, plus a cute sewing kit (different post).
Imagine my panic when only the dresses got to me first. “This was what Ver & Joel gave to us only!”, said Pam & Jill (do they sound like storybook characters or what?). I was thankful the dresses arrived, but they weren’t the main star of the package. As far as I was concerned, they were wearable pillows that cushioned the PlugBug from the New York/Philly/Manila adventure.
Was it still in New York, left there by accident? “No way!”, Petah the precise packer said.
Thankfully, they found it hiding somewhere, and Lele brought it home with her. Lele’s home is like one of those enchanted houses in Harry Potter’s wizarding world—blink and you'll miss it. It’s tucked in a quaint street (seriously, it looks like a scene from Noli Me Tangere) and since I was off on a fried pork quest for work, I had to send Mang Cris to get it, where he got lost.
All that effort for a little plug!
Ah, but it’s not just a plug, it’s a PlugBug.
Look how pretty and shiny! If you just want an iPad/iPhone charger, bring this.
But when you want it to become the best thing ever for streamlining your Apple charging needs, you do this (insert eee-uu-eee-uu—psh—psh Transformers transforming sounds):

I wish it had added another port for another Apple device, but it would probably need to be bigger (that’s what she said), plus I bought a four port charger from Capdase before, but found that it would overheat in a scary manner and would make the devices it was charging fluctuate, so I was never able to use all four ports at the same time anyway.
MacBook + iPad charger in one, yay!
