Sometimes, more often than she’d like to admit, Natalia had nightmares. Usually, they were of Dani and the kids, but they could also be related to her life from Ukraine. In either case, she avoided thinking about it.

Which is why she was now sitting by herself in the dark kitchen, drinking bourbon out of a coffee mug, her crutches set right on top of the table, the prosthetic nowhere to be seen.
