Hi, I've been following your Youtube channel for about a year now and plan to try waist training. However, my left leg is shorter then my right leg by about 1 cm. Its only a little bit shorter but it has caused my right hip to raise higher than my left, and also causes the right side of my waist to curve a little more than my left side. The differences in my waist and hip is hardly noticeable. I am on the slim side. Can I still buy off the rack corsets? Is there anything I should be careful of?
Hello! This is actually a great question, and I might make it the topic of my next Fast Foundation Friday video if you’re okay with it. :)
I have one leg a tiny bit shorter as well, and it’s caused my pelvis to twist a little as I grew. This is one of the reasons that I’m careful about the silhouette and hip spring of the corsets I wear, as too much pressure over my left hip can cause numbness and tingling.
But OTR corsets aren’t impossible to wear as long as you are comfortable and wearing them responsibly. If your right hip is higher, you may want to buy corsets to fit that side - i.e. try corsets with a high, square hip spring like Restyle’s Wide Hip corset, WKD’s Mae, or Axfords C242. Innova Corsetry, Maison Moginot and Contour Corsets also make very dramatic, defined hip springs in their custom corsets. You might feel a little “pocket” of air where your lower left hip doesn’t fully fill out the corset, but you can stuff that area if it bothers you, while your right hip will be more comfortable. Mesh corsets like from Mystic City, Orchard Corset or True Corset may also have more “give” to the fabric, and may season asymmetrically on you so they might be a comfortable option.
The reason that I tend to avoid a gradual sloping hip spring is that it may put pressure over your pelvic bones, especially if you don’t have that much padding over your hips, and you would feel more pressure on the right side compared to the left. So the same way one would buy a bra for the larger breast and use a cutlet for the smaller one, if you want to stick with OTR corsets then buy for the higher or more protruding hip, and pad out the smaller one if necessary. :)
