“Just hurry up and take it out before it burns!”

Today had been. . .interesting. No, that wasn’t the word the Sultan would quite use, but he had no idea exactly what word would properly describe a situation in which he was now walking through the halls of the palace with his late wife after she had appeared in the throne room very much alive. He hadn’t believed his eyes at first, but something about her just screamed that this was the former queen despite the years between when he had last laid eyes on her.
The two walked with a foot of distance between them. She was hesitant, not sure if a motion toward him would be taken as hostile by the guards. He was fearful, almost expecting her to disappear into thin if he so much as tried to take her hand. They didn’t talk about the elephant in the room--where she had gone and why she had gone there and what would happen now--but instead what had brought her back to Agrabah.
Jasmine.
“I don’t know what to do, Mari,” the Sultan said with a sigh. “The law is clear, but she refuses to give any of the suitors the time of day, save to set Rajah upon them or push them into the fountain.”
The corner of Marketa’s lips twitched upward in a slight smile. Sounds just like me at that age, she thought. Hamed didn’t know that, though. He hadn’t met her until her father had ‘straightened her out’. “Come now, she can’t be that unreasonable,” she replied in an even tone, though she had heard the rumors that said otherwise.
“Oh, but she is,” he insisted. “And stubborn and restless and rebellious. I’m at my wit’s end.”
“Perhaps it’s not you she needs to hear it from,” she suggested. “Perhaps she needs to hear it from someone who’s been in her position, who understands what she’s going through.”
He frowned. “Now? I’m not sure if that would be such a good idea.”
“Hamed, please.” She would push the subject, but only gently. He was still the Sultan and, more importantly, knew this teenage Jasmine. All she had were the memories of her very young daughter. “The palace is only so big and we are going to set eyes on each other eventually. Better to go straight to her than for her to find me hiding behind a tapestry somewhere after hearing the servants’ gossip because you haven’t deemed our reunion appropriate.”
The Sultan sighed again. “I see your point,” he conceded as he stopped to face her. “But let me speak with her first. This will not be. . .easy to explain.”
A sigh of relief escaped Marketa’s lips as she nodded. “Of course.”
The two made their way toward Jasmine’s chambers, Marketa staying out in the corridor while the Sultan hesitated in the doorway.
“Ah, Dearest, you are in here,” he said, taking a few steps into the room. “There’s something important I have to tell you. It’s. . .well, difficult to explain, but we have, shall we say, an unexpected guest.”

“I don’t have many happy thoughts. It was a Christmas here. With friends. It was belonging somewhere for the first time ever. That’s what I thought of, my happiest memory. What are you thinking of?”

He ran after her as fast as he could. Thinking was not something he was doing at the moment because he already knew what he was going to do later and what he was doing now.
Parents Day || Catia, Cassim & Jasmine
aprincessofagrabah
Needless to say both Catia and her older brother were excited for parents day at the school. They knew their father wasn’t going to be able to make the journey, but at the very least their mother promised to come. Catia stood outside with her brother chatting with those who stopped by to talk to them, every now and then she glanced at herself in her pocket mirror and would micro manage and straighten out Cassim’s clothing. “Cat, would you stop?” Cassim finally said with a frustrated grunt. He was excited to see his mother too, but his little sister’s micro managing was getting on his last nerve.
“No! Do you want to look nice for mom or not?” she asked with a frown. “I swear you’re just like dad, what have you got against nice clothing?” she asked him and he simply stared at her with an expression that lacked amusement. “Street rats.” she teased which caused him to nudge her away from him. “Wait wait you’ve got a bit of dust on your-” she began while reaching forward for his jacket but his hand shot out to stop her. “Okay enough.” he insisted. She frowned and shook her head but a familiar sight stood behind him that made her perk up instantly.
She pushed past him and ran over to the person they had been waiting for. “Ummah!” Catia called out as she hugged onto Jasmine. “You’re here!” she said excitedly.

“Dearest, must you keep doing this?” the Sultan sighed in a theatrical fashion. “When I taught you this game all those years ago, I never expected you to best me so easily. I shudder to think you might find Rajah to be a more worthy opponent.”

“I am honoured you have invited me to your Kingdom, your Majesty. I must say I have never been this far away from my own and I am thrilled to be here.”
