story summary

Ayla has left after being cursed to death once more- this time, by Broud. Forced to leave her son behind, Durc must battle for standing in a Clan where tradition and conformity is everything. Named for the figure in a fable, Durc has to decide what he wants in his story- will he stay with Broud’s Clan, forever looked down upon by the leader, or will he take inspiration from his name and become his own legend?

understanding terms used in Son of The Clan

the Clan = Brun/Broud’s clan, the group of characters we are all familiar with

The Clan = all of the Clan peoples, including other caves

The Mog-ur = Creb specially

Mog-ur (capital M) = used as a sort of honorific. When capitalized, it is being used specifically as a title

mog-ur (lowercase m) = refers to the position when lowercased. It is never directed at a specific person, but more as a broader concept

the Cave (capital C) = the specific cave that is home to the Clan

cave (lowercase c) = any cave
