Our co-founder, Emmanuelle Galland, created this 10 day Wellness Challenge for Aqua Studio in Tribeca. She is doing great work in the fitness/nutrition/wellness field and is the Master Trainer at Aqua. If you haven't experienced underwater cycling, it's amazing! All the rage in Spain, Italy and France.

Spotlight on Aqua Studio: The Country's First Underwater Cycling Destination
They told us why they don’t get fat (drink wine! eat chocolate! enjoy life!). They gave us vibrating platforms to jiggle our figures into perfection. Now the French are introducing us to a new underwater workout. Opening this month in an airy Tribeca building, Aqua Studio will be the first stateside outfit to hold cycling classes in a pool. The 45-minute-long sessions incorporate a series of core- and arm-strengthening exercises much like those you might find in cycling classes on solid ground, but instead of fancy straps and bands, water is the only prop. “You get a very intense workout because of the water resistance; you work deeper muscles, which you can’t with any land-based exercise,” says Aqua Studio founder Esther Gauthier, a former fashion-photography producer who was so impressed with the cardio-based workout when she tried it on a trip home to Paris a few years ago that she decided to bring it to New York, where she now lives. “And the water supports your body weight, so there’s no impact on your joints.” Developed by an Italian physical therapist seeking novel ways to rehabilitate athletes, aqua cycling took off in France three years ago and has since quickly spread throughout Europe. Metal bikes are submerged in four feet of water (so head and, more important, hair, remain dry), with the handlebars just beneath the surface. Aqua Studio will provide special rubber shoes and towels, so all you need is your bathing suit. The sleek yet inviting vibe isn’t confined to the pool. When you walk through the door of the high-ceilinged, three-story studio, which will soon house a juice bar and massage rooms, it’s like being transported to a chic French pied-à-terre. “It doesn’t look like a gym, and that was the point,” notes Gauthier. “We wanted a space that felt really cozy, where you come for a great class and a small community.”
