But in Mario’s defense, he was apparently taking a tumble large enough to knock a powerup out of him, so he wasn’t exactly in any position to make sure he had a clean landing.

Do u suppose luigi is gonna learn thst he needs to step up and be brave. Also i notice mario is doing a lot of talking in the final trailer. And "over my dead body" and the scenes with him and fire mqke me think maybe Nintendo is gonna do something to him

Thing is, Luigi already kinda had the “learning to step up and be brave” arc in the first Movie? It’s mostly just a matter of maintaining his resolve, which is easy enough with his brother around.

I’m thinking, if Luigi has an arc this time around, it’s going to center around his relationship with Bowser.

Something about being unashamed of seeing the good in people, even if they refuse to embrace the good in themselves.

However, if the “over my dead body” line from Mario is leading to something… combined with the “finish this Lu” from the earlier trailer….

… Maybe Luigi arc’s going to be “sometimes it reaches a point where you’re just gonna have to murder a fucker regardless of the good you see in him,” which would be heartbreaking, but it would also be really cool to see Lu pop off like that.

That would be interesting… but I doubt it since 1. Bowser is still in the exact same sitting position he was when he was spat out, 2. He’s still visibly slick from Yoshi’s saliva…

… and 3. I think he would be a bit more smug about it if he’d agitated Mario enough to lash out at Luigi. Instead, Bowser seems flabbergasted and a little shaken– like one would be if they just got eaten by a dinosaur for six seconds.

Some new entity had grabbed Luigi and Peach, and Mario was trying to drag them back to safety before they all got struck with the babyfication ray.

No clue when Wario and Waluigi got transformed too, but I feel the whole scenario is going to make for an interesting final boss.

Im kinda curious abt if luigi said anything to their dad or just looked sad when he left the table with the plate of pasta in the dinner scene

I’m thinking Luigi just sadly left the dinner table with the plate of pasta. But even if he did attempt to vouch for Mario, he probably would’ve found it difficult to make himself heard.

During the whole dinner scene, Luigi struck me as the member of his family who is well-liked, but nearly invisible. He doesn’t assert himself, he doesn’t argue, he doesn’t say anything that might rock the boat… he just kinda lets himself go under the radar. As a result, he is almost entirely left out of the conversation, save for a little bit of baseline acknowledgement from his parents.

Luigi is not the type start an argument with his dad when he barely has enough fight in him to get upset about the salad bowl being yanked out of his hands before he’s had even a single bite of food.

I had a thought since mario and luigi radiate such spongebob and patrick energy. Have u seen the first spongebob movie where spongebob and Patrick nearly die. Fic idea, something similar happen in the super mario galaxy movie before the luma bring the bros back to life after resetting the universe!

They are wildly different characters with a very different tone to their relationship. The only real overlap is the fact that they’re friendly guys who are life-long best friends.

I can envision a scenario where Mario & Luigi have a close brush with death before the universe resets itself, but I see it playing out more the way it happened in… say… Toy Story 3, as opposed to The Spongebob Movie.
