“ there’s not much to mess up , i can either open it or i can’t . “ she reminds her calmly , taking the shell out of the sea witch’s hand & looking at it closely . she’s yet to shed the suspicion she feels at the sight of the woman before her — but they’d made a deal . her taking a shot at cracking the shell & returning her voice in exchange for information about rumplestilskin’s plans . “ but i said i’d try —– so here goes . “ she mumbles to herself before holding her voice’s prison in plain sight , gathering all her strength & will power before using her other hand to blast it with light magic . she knows there’s a good chance she’ll get screwed over if this doesn’t work out , so she is definitely putting her all into the spell she’s casting . she goes on , minutes on end but the damn thing is just too resilient . “ the hell is this thing made out of ? “ frustration wraps around her words as she finally gives up , somewhat apologetic gaze lifting to meet the other’s . “ —– it’s not over . we can find another way , but right now we need to know what gold’s planning . “ she tries to offer some sort of reassurance , still holding on to hope that thier only lead isn’t gone . “ & unlike him , i keep my promises . “

“ You didn’t tell me we’re FAMILY! ” This changed everything. For so long she’d seen Ursula as the villain... but of course, nothing was that simple. Nothing so clear-cut. Her heart was as twisted and tangled as a spangle of seaweed, Ariel’s emotions all caught up between what was right and what was... keeping her here, talking to her –– good grief; her Aunt???
She tried not to DELUDE herself; to not seem even more childish, but she couldn’t help it. “ We could have changed things. I went looking for love when I found Eric, but... ” She trailed off, unable to finish. “ It would have been enough to know I had an Aunt out here. Someone who might have understood what it’s like to be... DIFFERENT. ”

Maybe it was because she was alone, in a strange and far-away ( okay, SUPER far-away! ) land, without her sister, without her fiancé, but Anna was feeling... sentimental –––– even more so than usual. She’d approached in her usual way, all tentative smiles and stumbling over her words, but wanting to maybe, hopefully, make a new friend. Even though history said you shouldn’t trust the mean-faced... she was willing to look past appearances. You couldn’t judge a book by its cover!
Well, actually you COULD, but you SHOULDN’T! Unless the book had the words ‘keep out’ written on it, in which case you should heed the warning, otherwise your sister will get incredibly upset that you... sort of accidentally read her diary and––– OOPS. Got off track. My bad.
“ Oh, no - no I’m sorry I didn’t mean to... ” She flushed, embarrassment covering her face like a reddened rash. “ I just... I just miss my family. ” Her parents, especially. Her sister, most of all. She was lucky to have Kristoff, too. She missed them all, in different ways. Tentatively, she peered up at the woman. Really? She could ask anything? Stupidly, she wondered, “ Who are you? ”

A swear nearly left her lips as her arm was tugged, rather unceremoniously, back as the tentacle wrapped around it and jerked. Thankfully, she found her footing before she could fall on her ass and looked back with narrowed eyes at the sea witch. “What is your issue?” She demanded, wanting to push the....appendage off but also not wanting to touch that slime or whatever it was.
