hiya! I know we're not really friends, but you seem pretty knowledgeable about this. today I heard the term 'frerard' for the first time and I was wondering what it meant? (: apparently it's related to something called 'Hoboken','suffering, 'all I want is nothing, because all I want is what I can’t have', ft willz and 'someone I love threw me away'? I was wondering whether you can explain this strange concept. also, what does 'this song is about not loving somebody' mean? Thank you! (:

Hi sweaty! I don’t know who you are haha, but I’m happy to help my adoring fans:) ‘frerard’ actually means‘you’re fucking sinning’ in latin! furthermore, hoboken is a mutation of ‘hoe, broken’ which is what i become every time i watch the set. this is where ‘this song is about not loving somebody’ comes in! Gerard Butler looks at Frank Sinatra as he says it, obviously because he wants Frank Lampard to understand that he has written a nice song and wants him to listen to it! Alternatively, it could have been a reference to ‘somebody to love’ by Queen - we all know how Gerard Manley Hopkins likes his 1980s pop references! Now onto the fun stuff! ft willz is my favourite poet (hes also known as will(z)iam shakespeare!) he wrote lots of emo poetry in the year of our lord 2008 about a relationship which had ended. all of this after he had recently wed his wife! Obviously, his poetry was about her, as were all the songs on stomachaches (this is where ‘someone i love threw me away’ comes in! Don’t you just think that’s exactly what happened in a relationship that has been happy and ongoing since high school days? i know it’s certainly how i view it!). ‘all i want is nothing because all i want is what i can’t have’ is also OBVIOUSLY about his (Franklin Roosevelt’s) old guitar pansy, because he used to sleep next to her of course (as one does with guitars!) and she used to be his best friend but now she’s his enemy. he no longer has her undivided attention.
