I think this might be the best I've ever drawn her helmet thus far
Been a minute since I posted a proper WIP, so:
An assortment of abandoned WIPs and concept/practice sketches I was originally planning to combine with other concept sketches that never materialized... I figure I might as well prove that I've been drawing something all this time, just not stuff I posted (there are also a few finished drawings I don't want to post publicly because they're pretty big spoilers for the climax/ending of Machine at Arms: sorXa, so... maybe I'll post them someday, but for now if we're not in a Discord server together you'll just have to try and imagine what I might be talking about)
I'm really sad to abandon that last one in particular, but.... I really have no idea what to do with the rest of the pose, so I'm kinda just stuck, unfortunately :'^{
I can't be arsed to finish this drawing I'd put on hold for a while for various reasons so uhhhhhh
borp
Mild Machine at Arms: sorXa spoilers under the cut:
Btw I promise I'm alive and working on stuff, just don't have anything to show at the moment and have been busy with life stuff ^^;;
I guess I can share a recent WIP:
There's no way this is getting done by the end of her transiversary, so here's a WIP preview:
I'm redoing sorXa's ref sheets! I'm redoing them as purely digital so I can update things more easily when I need to and so they'll be more consistent with each other (since I can just dress her up like a paper doll to make alts), and I'm specifically using a binary brush because I'm atrocious with digital-only art outside of pixel art so I figure this way I can leverage that skillset a bit to make it actually look good. (Also I made the overall shape by just tracing over her old ref, which is why it doesn't look too terrible even in the unrefined parts)
Sadly she's not compliant with 15 bit palette limitations because I needed too many colors, but after talking it over with a friend we agreed it's better to make the colors true to how she should look rather than trying to fit color restrictions that I only work with because I like to (rather than because I actually need to)
Working on an emblem of a clover flower for the resistance force that sorXa & co. belong to, which maaaay just end up being called "Clover" >_>
The post-hoc justification is that clover's a """weed""" that can grow in (and restore nutrients to) barren soil, but truthfully… I just really like Clover from Remastered Tracks Rockman Zero: Idea :^)
So because I'm a colossal idiot I tried to fix something with my mesh and in the process broke the textures beyond repair and had a massive breakdown because of how much work I'd lost
Luckily I'd had the presence of mind to save a copy of my texture before I messed with things, so I was able to copy some of the more complex structures of the face, but the markings on the scalp are completely unusable now and need to be redone manually which Sucks Real Bad™
It did at least motivate me to tweak a few other things with the mesh and textures, so I guess it's not all bad? But I, uh, did not take it well, as you can probably tell. :^(
