Our beloved Green Bay Packers blew up like the Hindenburg at Lambeau Field on Sunday, falling to the Giants 37-20 in the Divisional Round of the 2011-2012 Playoffs. Truly, it was a spectacular failure, and quite possibly the worst Packers playoff game in history. Donald Driver wins the final “Hero” award of the season, as it seems he was the only one on the field in Green and Gold who showed up with the will to win. This is a hard one to digest, friends, but Metz and Shep soldier on for one more episode to bring you their thoughts on the abrupt end to what was an otherwise phenomenal year of celebration. In a stunning regular-season finale at Lambeau Field on New Year’s Day, Matt Flynn passed for an insane 480 yards, completed 31 of 44 passes, and piled up an even crazier 6 touchdowns. Officially, the best single-game performance by a Green Bay quarterback ever, and it wasn’t even AR-12 at the helm. Wait, really? It’s painfully obvious at this point that #10 could be a tremendous asset this offseason, but here at Titletown Today we hope he will wear the Green and Gold jersey for just awhile longer. Hey, the PACK is now undefeated in 2012! Epic. Gratz to Bruce Risk, winner at 11-5 for the final week of our Titletown Picks. The (14-1) Green Bay Packers finished off the Bears 2011 playoff chances on the arm of AR-12, who threw for 5 touchdowns and locked up the #1 seed for themselves in the bargain, with the score 35-21 on Christmas Day. HO-HO-HOMEFIELD ADVANTAGE! This episode of Titletown Today is dedicated to Kyle, who just returned home from his deployment in the Middle East. He may be a Chicago Bears fan, but we're very happy he made it home safely for the holidays. It's because of the men and women like him who serve in the Armed Forces of the United States of America that we are all free to enjoy things like football. So, from both of us at Titletown Today, we would like to send a very special ‘Thank You’ to him and to all the service men and women of our nations’ military. It’s Over, It’s Over, It’s Over… The Green Bay Packers beat themselves 19-14 at Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday, ending their epic run on history in an unbelievable upset. I’m still not convinced I ever woke up on Sunday. Yes, in just a few more hours this bad dream will end; I will wake up in Oklahoma City, toss my bags in the car and set out East on I-44 for Illinois. I’ll set the cruise control for a comfortable 80 mph, and come noon I’ll tune into the game on AM Radio and listen with elation, counting down the miles through Missouri as the Packers dominate the Chiefs for 60 great football minutes.
