His name was Elmer Keith. Some of you old timers may recall the name. Most under 50 years old will have to google him. It won’t take long to realize that he had a huge impact on the large pistol caliber game and also the large game hunting community of his time. Through his experimentation and loading over time developed and created what today we all know as the 44 magnum and 41 magnum cartridge and their respective revolvers. He also had a hand in the 357 magnum being invented I am told. Keith did work for the US Army during World War II as well. He has written countless articles for American Rifleman magazine which is where a lot of his fame and notoriety came from. He passed back in 1984 and recently one of our customers happened upon and obtained one of the last firearms he had been presented with by Sturm Ruger with serial number 15. This brings us to why we at BG Customs are writing this for our page. The Super Blackhawk 44 Magnum depicted below in pictures here in our shop. We are honored to have been asked to engrave this firearm for its new owner. We simply added what we thought it’s original owner would have also enjoyed and envisioned in a classic revolver with subtle but contrasting lines.
