I have had the pleasure of looking after a little old arabic speaking lady, She is the cutest thing constantly smiling and laughing as we both stumble over trying to understand each other through the language barrier. She will point to things and say in arabic what she means and I will just have to guess. Sometimes I get it right other times not.
I am constantly reminded by how generous people can be, each shift she pulls me over and points to a plate of pastries by her bedside indicating that she wants me to have one, it doesnt matter how much I politely refuse saying that I dont need one or later, she still insists (as does her family when they are around). Today she had fresh fruit, I think it may have been home grown. It is so lovely to know that you are making a difference to peoples lives particularly because when she came in she was very sick. She was transferred from ICU on hi-flow O2 unable to really get out of bed. Now walking with very little supervision and no O2.
I will miss her when she goes home, her smile and her laugh but i am really happy that she is doing so well and that she will be able to go back to her family.
