Americans are taught to equate having a bloodline to BEING of that personage. so having Scottish blood and being Scottish are two totally different things, but it's not defined well. Fun story: I was sure that I had Irish blood for ages, but kept figuring out that different bloodlines were actually by marriage, including my maiden name. I was maybe 21-22 and lamenting to my mom, and I paraphrase, "Your grandmother's maiden name was super Irish, you dumbass. I could have told you years ago."
Aye, I’m aware. And I dinnae much care for it but I’m stuck dealin with it on a nigh on daily basis from people trying to cherry pick the history of my country like we’re a mythical fairy tale instead of a diverse nation of many cultures with a proud and often flawed history beyond shortbread and Braveheart.
I also don’t like how my history is used over here and referenced as “White Cultural Pride” because that sounds like something a nazi would say while wearing a ren-faire kilt. And that just makes my skin crawl.
Ok, but you've got over-achiever jock Chirrut, now I need over-achiever student Baze. No, I can't go to this X match/game, I have a test. Leave me alone, I've got to study. Sitting against a tree with books spread out, flowers everywhere. (This went a weird direction eek)
Overachieving Athlete Chirrut
Yes yes yes yes yes! This is much more in my wheelhouse and I love overachieving student Baze!
Baze who has no idea what school events or sports things are going on because he’s always too focused on his school work
Baze who spends so much time at the library that he has a specific spot he always goes to to study, and if there’s someone else there in his spot he will stand there glowering with his arms crossed until they move.
Baze never missing any class, even if he’s living solely on six cups of coffee and an uncooked packet of ramen.
Baze who finds the syllabi online for classes he’s going to be taking in the next term so that he can be prepared before he gets in.
Baze with text books that are littered with notes and post-its and high lighters and pen marks, making notes everywhere in his books he can.
Baze who doesn’t just sit through lectures and let it wash over him, but actually has conversations with his teachers, sometimes he even argues with them when he feels like the teachers are too stuck in their ways to see the big picture anymore.
Baze who takes multiple subjects because he loves learning, no matter what the subject is, who struggles with his major because he loves everything he learns.
Baze who feels like he has to get A’s because his mothers worked hard to make sure he can be where he is now, and he has dedicated so much time and energy into being there that if he gets anything less than an A than he is a complete failure.
But you know what’s better than Overachieving Athlete Chirrut, and Overachieving Student Baze? The two of them TOGETHER!
Chirrut who gets Baze to actually participate in school events, telling Baze that the the college experience if he doesn’t look around every once and a while!
Baze teaches Chirrut the benefits of getting his work done early, rewarding Chirrut with kisses and sex when Chirrut finishes his assignment before its due.
Baze who helps to keep Chirrut busy because Chirrut’s happiest when he’s busy, but when things start slowing down Baze is there to hold Chirrut and help calm him down.
Chirrut who presses kisses into Baze’s forehead when Baze starts thinking he’s a failure and validates Baze’s emotions but also assures him that Baze is the farthest thing from a failure, and tries to teach Baze how to forgive himself for not always being a perfect student.
Chirrut teaching Baze how to Sports and always gets really close to Baze so that he can “feel his form”. (It’s really an excuse to be as close as possible, which Baze knows)
Baze and Chirrut who balance and support each other and become better students because of it.

arachne-bride replied to your post: Americans are taught to equate having a bloodline...
I fucking hate ‘White Culture" used in that context. It really doesn’t translate to what they’re trying to say… Or it really does. They’re almost equally bad.
Considering there's a lot of celtic artwork incorporated into neo-nazi tattoos, I think it's exactly what they mean.
arachne-bride replied to your post “feel like i should take a poll to see if people think i should shave...”
I had a rad side cut for a few years, solid middle ground
that’s what i have right now actually. it’s like a mohawk that got overgrown enough to start braiding it. a braidhawk, if you will.
Not on duolingo, but in hs, my class wrote sentences and passed them around to conjugate in Spanish. We received a particular phrase just in time to write "The taxi is being yellow." That phrase haunts me a decade later.
that’s what they do. they’re bein yello henny
