CCA DESIGN FINAL EXHIBITION
SO ITS DONE! All these two years of crazy late nights, demanding deadlines, heart stopping crits - all culminating into this exhibition: A RANGE OF INDETERMINATE RESULTS.
Its very rare that you find yourself to be surrounded by so many talented and driven people. I feel so blessed to have been part of CCA MFA in Design batch 2015. We’ve all worked hard through these two years perfecting our own craft. And I gotta say those 2 years weren’t easy... fun though but not easy!
Now, the challenge of this exhibition was tying all of our own individual thesis work into one show. And I think the curatorial team was able to handle it really well. Our program is divided into three; graphic, industrial and interaction design which caused for such a broad range of work. The way the exhibition was set up was that you could have your work in any of the rooms provided to us as long as they join in into the conversation of the other pieces in these rooms.
You may notice the lighting differed in each room, that served as the marked on how we determine the place of our work; light to dark, social to personal.
We also had these special section that housed our thesis books, the magazine our pub team built and was giving away and the lobby. That’s Yin Xiao’s high tech lighting fixture up there.
It was awesome seeing everyone’s pieces all put up!
Here’s Eduardo Nauiack’s 3d printed cafe racer ferring. THE WHOLE THING TOOK MORE THAN 200 HOURS OF PRINTING TIME!.
Brooke Francesi’s holographic temporal type display
I had a piece in one of the darker rooms with my videos playing from projectors. One on my pod and the other to the wall parallel to it.
We built everything in that show with our own hands! And the turn out from the opening night was huge! It was really touching having so much of our family and friends coming to see the (indeterminate) results of our hard work.
THE SHOW IS STILL ON UNTIL THE 23RD so stop on by the California College of the Arts in San Francisco over at 8th street if you’re in the neighborhood! for those who can’t
