Intel Takes Another Shot at Handhelds
Intel has introduced its new Arc G3 processors, aiming directly at the growing handheld gaming PC market. The chips are designed for portable devices where power efficiency matters just as much as raw performance, putting Intel into even closer competition with AMD, whose processors currently power many of the most popular handheld gaming systems.
The new processors combine Intel's latest CPU and Arc graphics technology into a package built for compact gaming devices. Intel is positioning the G3 series as a way for manufacturers to deliver stronger graphics performance and modern gaming features without sacrificing battery life or portability.
Handheld gaming PCs have become one of the most active areas of PC hardware in recent years, with devices like the Steam Deck, ROG Ally, and Legion Go proving there's demand for portable systems that can run full PC games. Intel's latest announcement suggests the company sees that category as too important to leave entirely to its rivals.
Comment:
A few years ago, handheld PCs felt like a niche experiment for enthusiasts. Now it seems every major chip maker wants a piece of the market. That's usually good news for players—more competition tends to mean faster improvements and more interesting hardware choices.
