ocean’s eleven
☀️ @archaneul
despite all of the training they go through and the classes they take, nothing is quite like going through an actual mission itself. there is no simulator than can get the rush quite right; the knowledge that something, anything can go wrong in real time and end up with one of them, or more, hurt ( or worse ). the modules are tiresome alone, add onto that the stress being on a mission entails and the fact that continuous usage of her powers drains her, the whole situation is exhausting. as selfish as it might be, after finishing her part in her division’s mission a part of somi was wishing on every star she wouldn’t get drafted for the extractions. there were several pints of different flavored ice cream and a comfortable, cool bed waiting for her back at the compound, after all.
but the wide variety of delicious ice cream and comfy bed has to wait, the stars were apparently turning a deaf ear to her wishes. it’s fine, that’s what she’s here for, after all. the briefing is fairly straightforward; they’re being paired outside of their divisions, there’s still time before the extractions to prepare properly, and somi’s target is an ancient urn. on a ferry. in open fucking waters ( oh, the stars are just rubbing it in now, aren’t they? ). at least the person they’ve paired her up with isn’t half bad. kwon haneul--- they aren’t the best of friends, but she’s familiar with him. he seems to be pleasant enough, not to mention his reflexes and agility could definitely come in handy with their task.
once the briefing is finished and they’re all left to their own devices for the time being, somi figures she might as well get better acquainted with her teammate while they still have the time. she approaches hm once she deems there’s a good enough opportunity to do so, trying with all she can to not look nearly as unexcited as she feels. “hey,” she pulls a small, friendly smile, “ready to hopefully not smash an ancient artifact to pieces?”
