When it comes to shipping I know I complain a lot on this blog about ships that I don't like and I want to make an effort to stop doing that as much and mainly focus on things I enjoy instead but for some reason I want to write about the kind of ships that I like / dislike and why for the fun of it.

Obviously I don't like ships between adults and children (like Snarry or anything akin to that) or incest ships. That's base level stuff. I understand maybe wanting to write about specific character dynamics but these instances don't need to specifically be shipping. That might also be why I have an instinctual dislike of Severitus lol.

Some ship dynamics that are unhealthy can be interesting so I'm not inherently against that. I've complained about Dramione & Drarry for sure and I don't like those ships but I think they.. could possibly, hypothetically be done right or at least in a way that's interesting. Drarry is funny sometimes so I'll also give it that. Tomarry I have mixed feelings on because I don't like the ship but I like some of the things that people do with the ship and if someone could do that with other characters / another character and Harry that could be fun.

A lot of ships I feel extremely neutral toward (like bloodmoon), some I like casually (like jilypad or whatever neville & ginny is called). I try to defend these if they're getting unwarranted hate (like snupin). There's also some that I dislike casually like Snily

A lot of the ships that I've talked about disliking very actively (Dramione, Drarry, Jegulus) I don't like because of how people change their characters or just not liking the dynamic. With each of these people will do things like discount female characters (like Lily), fuck with the characterization (making Harry either meek or dickish, making Draco a mysterious edgy boy, making Hermione a badass coolgirl), or fuck with characterization of people outside of the ship and usually vilify them-- that's usually with Ron

My least favorite thing is probably when the trio's dynamic and characters get fucked up for the purpose of a ship and obviously that's personal bias because they mean a lot to me but I also don't like you need to make Ron a villain in general let alone for shit like Drarry, Dramione, (also Harmione but that's a whole thing). Pitting the trio against each other feels like a cardinal sin and I just can't handle it. it always makes them out of character anyway because for some reason you can't have them disagree in an accurate way

There's also some ships that are in their own category and I don't know how to describe very well lol. Like Romione is in its own category where the people who like it vehemently hate Harmione and often also hate Harry-- like, I like the idea of romione and I do like their dynamic but I don't like the fan space around it. Harmione is in a similar category because a lot of these shippers do the same thing to Ron that they do to harry but usually worse, but also it's so hated that unlike romione it tends to need more defending. Funnily enough I don't think anyone really hates ronarry but people DO hate romionarry and usually it's because 1. they hate polyamorous ships (and usually polyamorous people like irl for some ungodly reason) and 2. they hate harmione and can't stand to have Harry & Hermione involved in any way at all

Hinny is in a weird place for me because I fucking hate it but the fan space around it is fine, I like Ginny as a character outside of the ship, and there's nothing at all actually wrong with it. Which is why I never talk about it and I'm not going to talk about it much because that's not the kind of hate / negativity I want to put into the world. Also I know I would receive it in turn because many people like this ship. I have no justification for it sorry but I won't harass anyone for it or harp on about it so hey !! It's probably partially because I don't like the next gen trope but that's a whole personal thing tbh so whatev

Anyways I didn't have a main point to this it's 3 am and I'm rambling and watching speed runs so I guess if you like hearing me run a yapathon here you go
