CAITVI in ARCANE 1x07 The Boy Savior

I love that little moment in the elevator. The way Silco takes a deep breath, preparing for a performance. The way Sevika's nervousness is revealed only by a sideways glance at him. A perfect introduction to an iconic scene.

Also Silco using a mystery box to distract attention from Sevika and the gas cylinder. King of the stage. 😄

Psychotherapist Georgia Dow analyzes the budding attraction and relationship between Vi and Caitlyn in Arcane [1/?]:

When they hug together, it's this warm tight embrace. They're holding on to each other. And Vi.. her hand rubs softly on the back of Caitlyn's neck, that's another sign of romantic affection between both of them. And then that small nuzzle in that Caitlyn does, that is to people that we really care about. Animals do that in order to scent things, meaning this is mine, I want it. That even in this short amount of time, they've formed this deep connection to one another and it's gonna be very painful to have to part.

She believes what she’s saying

This is such a smooth way of calming down an Argument of Perspective! Ekko is understandably bitter about what Piltover has done to him and his, and Caitlyn is standing right there telling him he’s wrong! Caitlyn, for her part, can’t imagine that the city that she loves and grew up in could be so unjust.

Then, Vi, who hates Piltover, who hates what they have done to her and her fellow Zaunites, who is so ready to fight all the time, is the one to stop the conflict. Out of all characters, Vi is the last one I would expect to de-escalate such an argument. And so smoothly? Without shutting one or both of them down? Wow!

Of course, if either Ekko and Caitlyn chose to be more unreasonable, this wouldn’t work. But it really does smooth over the tension they were building.

Conflict resolution! Of course, that phrase (and Vi’s unspoken support of both people) doesn’t magically resolve their perspectives, but it calms down the conflict aspect so that they both have the space to believe the best in the other person. Caitlyn accepts that Ekko really suffered those injustices, and Ekko accepts (warily) that Caitlyn seems to have the city’s best interests at heart.
