Arcane MerMay

In honor of the month MerMay, here’s an idea for a CaitVi Mermaid AU. Feel free to take this as a prompt if you want. M

Caitlyn comes from a wealthy, noble family but longs for adventure on the seas; despite her mother’s protests and her father’s concerns, her best friend and pseudo big brother, Jayce Talis indulges her. One day he lets her sail out in the ocean all on her own. But due to her naivete and recklessness, Caitlyn puts herself in great danger when she ignores the warnings of a dangerous storm approaching.

By some miracle, Caitlyn survived and is found safely on the shore. All Caitlyn remembers is a pink-haired young woman, who looked after her before disappearing. She can’t stop thinking about her and is driven to find her to thank her; but no matter how hard Caitlyn looks (on the surface), the other woman is nowhere to be found. 

Until one day...

Vi is a mermaid, who despises the surface level and all the humans that live above. Despite that though, she often travels to the surface in order to collect trinkets for her little sister; ensuring that Powder herself doesn’t go to surface herself and gets caught by some humans. 

Much to her own surprise, Vi ends up saving a foolish human caught in a storm and even stranger, finds herself going more and more to the surface to catch a glimpse of the human, despite all her instincts telling her not to.  

Is it just curiosity or is there something more pulling Vi to this particular human?
