Fancy standing a little straighter in this Fiesta Wool slipper by Orthaheel?
Despite the name, these slippers are hardly party-shoes. The truly sensible option when it comes to relaxing, these slippers by Orthaheel are designed first and foremost with support in mind.
The upper lining and inner sole of these slippers are made of "breathable" wool fibres (not surprising as it does seem to be the material for slippers these days) and the outer sole is appropriate for both indoor and outdoor wear. Nothing new here so far, but in between the inner sand outer sole is a cork mid-sole, well placed to absorb shock and reduce the amount of strain placed on feet, ankles and knees. These slippers are lightweight, and apparently designed to realign the foot back to its natural position, offering excellent arch support and generally improving the condition of the foot and the lower limbs.
Personally, I would not have thought a slip-on shoe could offer this much support, and these slippers seem almost too good to be true for people looking for this – so what's the catch?
Well, there are only two choices of colours: black, or “wineberry” purple, and there are no half sizes available, only whole sizes 5-10. This slipper also tends to err on the side of large, especially with regards to width – which is great for those of us with wide feet, but less convenient for those customers looking for something narrow as well as supportive. On top of this, wool tends to stretch, giving extra space that may be unwelcome given the already large nature of the slipper. A buckle is provided to attempt to redress this stretch and give the wearer the option of adjusting the width themselves, but I imagine wearing socks might be the best way to do this.
If you have wide feet and require extra support, these seem like an excellent choice, but if you are narrow-footed it might be best to look elsewhere.
