Always been there | Clint and Steve|

Something made Steve a deal when he was in the ice, spend seventy years walking the Earth or spend it in the ice. He picked waling the Earth without anyone being able to see him. About 40 years in he watched a little boy cry over his mother’s body, frowning to himself because he should leave but he couldn’t help but comfort the boy, telling him it was alright even if he couldn’t see or hear him.
Turns out that the boy could see and hear him. The boy’s name is Clint and Steve sticks with him throughout everything, running away to the circus (Which Steve didn’t talk to Clint for about a week for that one) and now he was joining the army, telling Steve it wasn’t because of him, which Steve didn’t believe one bit. He tells the boy his name is Grant because really Clint would be crazy if he went around saying he could see and talk to Steve Rogers.
“Come on Clint. You don’t have to join the army.” Steve said, shivering as someone walks through him, he always hated when people did that. It freaked him out.
“I can’t stand the thought that I don’t know what’s going to happen to the world in hundreds of years.”
James hummed at the thought that the archer shared aloud, knowing the struggle. It was hard. Not knowing if anything that was happening now would be even talked about then. There was no way or really knowing what anything would be like then. They wouldn’t live that long. “It’s not gonna happen Clint. Growin’ up if this is what someone told me the future was gonna be I wouldn’t have believed them. I was expectin’ flyin’ cars by now.”

"My brain hates my eyes for seeing this."
“What?” James asked, shifting to look at Clint with a brow raised. “I don’t see what’s wrong...”

“It’s okay. I couldn’t sleep anyway.”
“Are ya sure?” James asked as he looked at Clint from across the kitchen and knowing that he had caused a commotion that had brought Clint out of his room. Though if Clint’s statement was true it seemed like they had one major thing in common--lack of sleep. “I was tryin’ ta make some coffee. Couldn’t sleep so might as well. Want some?” he offered quietly.

“Keep sweet-talking and this could go a whole new direction.”
A chuckle passed through James’ lips at the statement because he had no doubt. He used to be really good at sweet-talking and apparently still wasn’t too shabby if he had Clint pawing at him. “A whole new direction, huh? Ya would really like that, wouldn’t ya handsome?” he joked, somewhat hoping to test which direction it would go.

"I'm creating trouble, can't you see?"
“Oh I can see it Clint,” James sighed as he rolled his eyes and literally just watched as Clint ran round the place in attempts to make a mess and ‘create trouble’ as it was so referred to. “Ya do realize this is only causin’ trouble for you right? Yer the one that has to clean all that crap up.”
