Elena had wanted to kiss Nate for a while, but she would never admit it, nor would she push the idea because he was the only person she truly trusted in the Upper East Side. But the time felt right, so she finally did it when they were alone, hanging out as they always did. Though she kept it short, fearing that she’d cross a line, that he wouldn’t like it, and that she’d ruin their friendship if it lingered longer than what she could easily laugh off if he didn’t react positively. But before she could even think about it any longer, his lips pressed against hers again, the last thing she had expected him to do. She holds onto him as though her life depends on it, afraid that her whole world will come tumbling down if she lets go of him. Blinking a few times once she breaks the kiss for air, she’s breathless, hesitating for a moment before deciding to look up at him. ❝ Please tell me that doesn’t have to be the last time I get to kiss you. ❞ She whispers, nerves causing her grip on his shirt to tighten.
