Where do you start? Choosing a front door can be quite frustrating, but after reading this article, choosing your front door will be a smooth process.

Do you know your front door is one of the most important aspects of your home? Yes. It relates to the curb appeal, the value and the attraction. I mean it is the first thing impression and the first part of your home a person touches when they enter. Your front door makes a statement of who you are.

Many characteristics of a front door are very important that many people do not even realize. For example, the color whether you stain or paint is the premier eye catcher. Choosing a color is I would say one of the most important aspects. You need to consider matching interior woodwork or exterior trim/siding color scheme. What is most important of the two? Well, it also depends on the architecture of the home. Would you have ever of thought of that? A colonial for example is commonly found with a black or a red door.

Another characteristic of a front door is the hardware. Yes, the hardware. This polishes the final appearance. Choosing heavy, pronounced hardware I feel is truly a consideration you should have when making your hardware decision. The color of the hardware is also very important. Being consistent in your color schemes when it comes to hardware cannot be overlooked. I mean you would not want bright brass interior door knobs, a satin nickel exterior handle set and black house numbers. That's just way too many colors. You want to keep it consistent. Finally, choosing hardware that accents the architecture style the door is the last key to the puzzle. For example, if you purchase a Craftsmen style exterior door you would not want to put round or oval shaped hardware, but you would put square or rectangular shaped hardware.

I saved the best for last. The style of the door must match the style of the home.
