I want to walk into the forest
I want to go hiking out into the woods, see if I can go bat watching, maybe walk over to the graves in the tangled branches, or to the fallen walls, or the old oak that cleaves the path to the railway right in two, and island of roots and trunk... But I am stuck at home revising. I want to walk down to the shoreline and skim pebbles in the iron sea as the sun sinks behind the mountains into a molten sky that cools to black. I want to watch the oil-rigs fade against the sky and then walk back though the culverts and copses to the road. But I am stuck at home revising. I want to strap my skull-adorned helmet to my head, put my bloomers on, hop on my bicycle with its basket and bell, and trundle off somewhere, enjoy the evening breeze and rattle my way around the hills. But I am stuck at home revising. Procrastination is far more interesting than building regs, even fantasised procrastination. Watching the flesh slowly decay off a roadkill skull is probably more interesting and less tedious than this exam revision, but it’s one of those necessary-but-dull modules and I need to pass it. I am whingeing on the internet like I am half my age :P
