Better downloads

Gridllr.com is updated today with a small improvement.  The Download button on image posts will now download the image immediately (one-click downloading).  

It will always download the largest size available from Tumblr, usually that’s _1280.jpg.

Note that often the poster’s original image is less than 1280px, so the file you download might be less than 1280px wide.  There’s nothing we can do about that.  But you can try the built-in search function, which uses TinEye - TinEye can maybe find a higher resolution version of the same image somewhere else on the web.  Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn’t, there’s a bit of luck involved!

Nooo what has Tumblr done to archive view?? Now it’s all uniform grid squares, I used to really like how they weren’t all aligned. Could it be an x-kit thing or is it Tumblr? Will delete this prob cos I don’t like text posts

Archive view was changed? It looks worse now.

@staff ? I thought it was a bug but it’s been like this for several days now. Another one less reason for me to visit this site.

Does anyone know how to get archive-view back for a blog?

I’ve asked this before and it got answered but I’ve been searching for the post since last night and still haven’t been able to find it

There were like, some settings you had to toggle… 🤔

Something I never mention about FYCI, is that you can see what we’ve been up to in Archive view (https://fyeahcindie.tumblr.com/archive).

It’s funny, I often click on Archive when I look at other tumblrs, but I forget that I have it on the main page at F Yeah Chinese Indie.   D’oh!  =D

Great way to see what’s going on without scrolling... scrolling... scrolling.  Skip back over the months and years, it’s kinda nostalgic to see some of the inactive bands we used to feature.  *sigh*  

I wish bands like Tizzy Bac and Bearbabes would make a comeback, but it’s also very cool to see how upstarts like Elephant Gym, P!SCO, etc. have become more established in the last several years. PiA started as PiA樂團, a duo with Xiaosong, then PiA樂團 was a trio with Wing & Bogy, now she’s a very popular solo artist. 

By the way, you can also search other sites this way, even if they don’t have an Archive button; just add /archive to the end of their main page address.
