As we said before, we are still learning. We found you Maison Martin Margiela black harem trousers with extreme drop crotch panel — spring 2008 Not to be confused with an almost similar version from fall 2007. That one differed because the panel was removable. As we had switched the seasons, we paired the harem with Ann Demeulemeester black top with padded shoulders and mock turtleneck — spring 1996 Because this high shoulder silhouette was presented on the FW07 runway. What also added to our confusion was that the trousers were shown on the runway in a skirt version. When you think you know it all, getting proven wrong just shows that the in-depth diving into the @maisonmargiela archives is endless. Maison Martin Margiela black skirt with lining pulled out of the pockets — fall 2003 Not shown on the runway (or perhaps underneath that one long coat) but here's a small photodump of FW2003 detail references. As you can see the season was infused by glimpses of lining showing. Whether it was by creating fake tears or by adding axcessive fabric as if it was ripped due to fitting. A fairly understated collection except for the glorious confetti tabi boots. Photo dump of the Margiela FW1997 collection Featuring versions of our Maison Martin Margiela dark blue cropped jumper with two different sleeves — fall 1997 A small detail is the upper part which was knit horizontally (as opposed to the lower part having a vertical knit) It almost seems as if you're wearing a cropped top over something else. This cropped version is exactly what Margiela showed on the runway in grey. An exactly the same beige version was presented in much thicker knit. We now have the original Maison Martin Margiela dark navy frayed top with grey frayed trims and snap buttons on the back — fall 1992 After having posted the later Maison Martin Margiela tartan frayed top with black sheer overlay — 1994 re-edition of fall 1992 As promised: if we post archival pictures, it's because we've got the archival pieces for you. Here some snaps of the models smoking backstage. One of the few decent images to be found as the runway was pure chaos. It was a room packed full with people while a small marching band came through, trying to make way for the models. Without much success as models still had to wriggle themselves a way through the audience. You can see how that smoke was badly needed for the girls. It was an experience for sure. The Margiela spring 2006 collection consisted of constructed garments still attached to the fabric roles. Models together with the roles were set on carts and rolled down the runway by the Margiela staff. I assume that wasn't included in the job description when they first started. This ensemble is a rtw version of that runway collection: The skirt is extra (perhaps too?) long suggesting remnants of fabric from the roles. The top consists of a Möbus band draped around the neckline in a cowl shape.
